Speaking at an event in New York last Wednesday, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says young people who have been protesting in support of Palestine on university campuses get their news from TikTok “which is governed by an algorithm, until at least up till now, still largely manipulated by the Chinese Community Party”.
Clinton goes on to accuse young people of not knowing enough about the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, saying “it’s more generational than anything else and it cuts across political, religious, ethnic, racial divides, and sadly it’s not very well informed or historically rooted.”
Clinton has previously accused Columbia students and others protesting Israel’s genocide of Palestinians of historical ignorance, saying in an interview on MSNBC last year that they “didn’t know very much at all about the history of the Middle East, or frankly about history.”
